How PixelClub Builds Cheap Websites

PixelClub is just that - a club - and everything we plan, design and build is for everyone in the club. Nothing is built without real consideration, and everything has a strong purpose.

The cheap websites concept

PixelClub is a spin-off of the Web Design division of award-winning design agency Serosensa. Founded in 2012, Serosensa's creative portfolio boasts a range of world-class clients including HS2, Eddie Hall, Nestlé, Galliford Try, Carlsberg, Morgan Sindall, Top Trumps, Keltbray, Pretty Green, Monopoly & YMCA.

Growth into a top-tier agency brought with it rising costs, and rising fees. This priced-out any small startups that approached Serosensa for a website - which we hated! We weren't in this for the money - so we decided to find a way.

Design agency quality made intelligently affordable

In an innovative approach, we massively streamlined the design and build process by removing the repetition of starting from scratch each time. Instead of developing new concepts, approaches, designs, layouts, and interactions each time like we do at Serosensa, PixelClub would instead sacrifice unique designs in favour of massive efficiency gains by designing one 'mothership' website with heavily considered modular parts that would work for nearly every business in the country.

Initially PixelClub faced criticism for recycling the same design and codebase - but that was exactly the point! ...and once people realised that the odds of their customers landing on another PixelClub website were astronomical, they accepted that this wasn't a bad thing - it was a great thing! ...and once they understood how it made a world-class website affordable for them, they were onboard.

Today, there are many options to differentiate each website anyway. Members can choose from over 250 Photo Box images and 19 modules. Colours, sizes, content, fonts, and even navigation options all set apart the different websites. Everything is already coded, ready to go and frequently improved and updated. No build fees, just a cheap subscription.

And that's the concept. It's unique and bold. And it works!

Prebuilt Modules

At its core, PixelClub is simply a beautiful collection of stackable modules.

Every module we create has a specific purpose and works beautifully across all screen sizes. Each PixelClub website is made entirely from different combinations of these modules.

When we consider a module, we mean it. These are not just thrown together, they are planned, designed, carefully built and refined. When a client needs something special, if we think it can be used by other members in the future, we build it proudly for free. For example, AAE requested the Video Canvas module, The Paperless Logo inspired the Codesharer module and Tamsin Wheatcroft is responsible for the Advanced Contact Form.

Of course, it's no problem if you need something unique. For example, incorporated into the MIES website, we have built a bespoke Customer Portal page that interacts with their customer-facing management system. This was built for a fee.

Everything is done for you

One of the things that makes PixelClub so special is its ease of entry. All you really need to send us is your logo and some text. We can handle EVERYTHING else. In theory you could have a great website on the same day you decided you needed one. In practice it usually happens in around a week (people like to refine - including us).

We add your logo, colours and relevant images to make the website feel like yours. Send us your text for each page and we'll choose the best modules for your needs and stack them up to make each page.

The Club

If you're in the Pixel Club, the perks are fantastic! Every new website gives everyone in the club something new. If anyone has anything developed, you get it too. If we make a new module, feature or improvement, you get it too! This approach enables beautiful, cheap websites that save you a fortune, because every PixelClub website, improves every PixelClub website.

Examples

In February 2024 Tamsin Wheatcroft needed an upgraded contact form that supported file uploads so that candidates could upload CVs directly. When AAE joined the club a few months later they adopted the Advanced Contact Form module. AAE also asked for a module with a rolling video background to showcase their factory and production as soon as users loaded the homepage. The Video Canvas module was born, and in August that year, ME Projects chose to have it front and centre on their new homepage too.

When I Grow Up debued the Fat Thumbs module, now used on The Paperless Logo, Serosensa and N1 Visual. MIES was first to boast the Portfolio module, also used by Serosensa and N1 Visual, and Model Ideas pioneered the Media Gallery, which is now used on pretty-much all PixelClub sites.

And that's how every PixelClub website, improves every PixelClub website - which also means your site never goes stale. Many businesses pay a large sum for a new website, only to watch it become dated and neglected within a few years.
